Embakasi-North Constituency
The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) (hereafter referred to as the Fund) formerly Constituencies Development Fund (CDF), is a fund established in 2003 through an Act of Parliament, the Constituencies Development Fund Act, 2003. The Act was later reviewed through the enactment of the CDF (Amendment) Act 2007, and repealed through CDF Act, 2013. The latter was subsequently succeeded by the current NG-CDF Act, 2015. At cabinet level, NG-CDF is represented by the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution, who is responsible for the general policy and strategic direction of the Fund.
NG-CDF Embakasi North is one of the constituencies in Nairobi County with a population of181, 388 (one hundred and eighty one thousand three hundred and eighty eight registered voters and an area of 208sq.km2... The Member of Parliament is currently Hon. James Mwangi Gakuya. The sub-county headquarter is Kasarani sub county.
Embakasi North Constituency was split from the then Embakasi Constituency in the year 2012.
Since then it has had only one Member of Parliament.
Education
In Embakasi North constituency, Majority of the residents has formal education, 50% have primary education and 30% with a secondary level of education or above are working for pay.
The constituency has 24 schools; 15 primary schools and 9 secondary schools.
Economic Activity
The communities' main source of income is industrial works and practice business activities which has been a big challenge in the area. Mostly women are engaged on small business for sustainability, while men are mostly engaged on industrial works and Jua kali Artisans to sustain their families.
